Ed., NCSP, ABSNP is a nationally renowned speaker in the field of learning disabilities and has conducted nearly 200 professional seminars for educators and psychologists. He is dually trained as both a Nationally Certified School Psychologist from James Madison University, and is also a diplomat in school neuropsychology. His doctorate work was conducted at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with research stints at the National Institute of Health (NIH). Dr. Feifer has co-authored six books on learning and emotional disorders in children. He currently works as a school psychologist in Frederick, MD, and is a course instructor for the ABSNP neuropsychology training program. Dr. Feifer was voted the Maryland School Psychologist of the Year in 2008, and also awarded the 2009 National School Psychologist of the Year by the National Association of School Psychologists. Dr. Philip DeFina, PhD., is a well-known author, lecturer, and clinician. He was a Guest Researcher at the National Institutes of Health and was a member of the international neuroscience subcommittee of The World Health Organization. He has been a pioneer in developing and directing national clinical training programs in the cognitive neurosciences. His numerous collaborative efforts with prestigious research centers throughout the world has evolved into the creation of the International Brain Research Foundation (IBRF). Dr. DeFina currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientific Officer of the IBRF, which has spearheaded the collaborations among top neuroscientists and research facilities around the world by facilitating and coordinating cutting-edge research. Under his leadership, IBRF is in a position to accelerate the scientific findings that are key to solving the complex issues in the area of brain health. The IBRF areas of interest include major psychiatric disorders; movement disorders; disorders of consciousness; autism spectrum disorders; learning disabilities; chronic pain syndromes; and biometrics. Chris Horne is an avid presenter at national, state, and local conferences and workshops with over 25 presentations at National Science Teachers Association and National Council for Teachers of Mathematics conferences over the past 15 years. Chris is the author of Playing With Math ... The Name of the Game, a collection of elementary math games and activities with an introduction by Dr. Steven Feifer. He has worked in elementary education for over 20 years, teaching kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd grade. More recently he worked as a teacher specialist for elementary math and science. Currently, he is the curriculum specialist for elementary science in Frederick County Maryland public schools. He is also an adjunct professor in the education department for Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He holds a Master's of Science degree in school administration from Western Maryland College and a Master's of Science degree in math and science curriculum and instruction from Hood College. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in elementary education at the University of Maryland, College Park. Chris enjoys spending time with his wife Marti and four amazing children, Meredith, Joshua, Jonathan, and Melissa. |
